Title : Contemporary Scottish Identity through Fashion
Work : created and exhibited at the MDes Communication Design (WIP) show. This was the half way stage for my final masters project.

Description : Since the creation of ‘Scottish Identity’ by Sir Walter Scott in the 1800s, much has changed regarding Scottish fashion and the ethical standpoint of young Scottish individuals. Through the medium of photography, a publication will be created to recognise the changes and current world of Fashion and sustainability in Scotland. The outcome will aim to form an understanding of what Contemporary Scottish Identity looks like in 2021/22.

My project, ‘The New North’ is a collaborative docu-fashion photography project working with five Scottish contemporary fashion designers. This project was influenced by my UG studies in Fashion Management and Fashion & Textile Design, exploring topics concerned with identity, fashion and sustainability. With the use of garments, models and both indoor and outdoor locations, a series of lyrical photographs aimed to construct a more relatable and relevant image of national identity and sustainable fashion in Scotland.

Designers featured: Jonny McKinnon, Emma Grieshaber, Sarah Murphy (BellaNude), Hayley McSporran and Franz Maggs.
